| Preparing Blank Coins and Bars | |
The long strips of extruded metal are cut into shorter lengths to make them easier to work with. |

The strips are then run through the 'blanking' press which cuts blank discs or bars of silver. |
The blanks are tumbled with metal beads to clean and buff the surface. The blank bars or medallions are always handled by gloved hands. Skin oils can tarnish the metal, lowering the quality of the final product. |
